Board Nominations Now Open for 2025 AGM

Heart Kids New Zealand is calling for nominations for two Board Member positions as part of our annual election process. These positions will be elected at the upcoming Annual General Meeting:

 3:00pm, Saturday 17 May 2025
AGM invitations will be sent with meeting papers

Open Board Positions:

  • Lower North Island: Manawatū/Whanganui, Hawke’s Bay/Gisborne, Wellington (1 position) 

  • Lower South Island: Central Otago, Otago, Southland (1 position) 

To be eligible, nominees must be Category 1 members of Heart Kids NZ (either a parent of a heart child or a heart child over the age of 18) and reside in the region they are nominated to represent. Each nomination must be supported by two other Category 1 members from the same region.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • prior governance experience in a not-for-profit or business
  • an understanding of Heart Kids NZ vision, purpose and strategy
  • an understanding of the role of ongoing monitoring against strategy, policies, and budget to assess the overall performance and conditon of HKNZ 
  • an appreciation of the legal responsibilities of board members i.e. officer duties, fiduciary responsibility, health and safety compliance, etc.
  • Sector specific knowledge and expertise
  • an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Board members play an important role in guiding our organisation and helping us deliver meaningful support to heart families across Aotearoa. We welcome nominations from individuals with governance experience and strong connections to their local Heart Kids NZ branches.

Nominations close at 5pm, Wednesday 2 April 2025
(late or incomplete nominations will not be accepted)

Nominees must also submit a profile (maximum 400 words) to accompany voting papers.
