Thousands gathered and the sun shone at the 43rd annual BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge which this year has raised $45,532 for Heart Kids NZ.
A special mention to all the Heart Kids fundraisers especially 72 year old Colin Anderson who completed his 100th lap of the lake for Heart Kids! His support for Heart Kids over the years has been incredible. He crossed the line after completing the two lap enduro with a large contingent of cyclists who shared this monumental achievement with him. He is the first rider to complete the cycling century, raising several thousand dollars for Heart Kids NZ, the Cycle Challenge’s official partner charity.
Taupo turned on the weather and provided perfect riding conditions resulting in some great racing and stunning views.
The Cycle Challenge is for all ages and the diverse range of participants this year proves it. The youngest rider was only 3 years old, completing the 5km Kids@Heart ride with the most senior rider an incredible 87-years old.
