Every year towards the end of November, thousands of people pull on their lycra, grease their chains and head to the stunning Taupo region, for one of New Zealand’s biggest sport participation events. For more than 40 years the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge has been thrilling cyclists from around the country and overseas. And for 15 of those years it has also been providing support to the 12 babies born every week with heart conditions. The BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is one of Heart Kids major supporters.
You don’t have to have aspirations to ride in the Tour de France to compete in this cycle challenge, and you don’t even have to wear lycra! The BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge November 24th has a course to suit everyone of any ability and both road and mountain bike options are on offer. There is even a race for the kids! The Kids Heart Ride is a 5km course that starts at Rainbow Point on the outskirts of Taupo and finishes at the finish line, your child can join our team of heart children who love to take part.
Taupo is a stunning place to visit anytime of the year so why not make a family weekend of it and set yourselves a fitness and feel good challenge too!
If you can ride a bike, you can be part of the fun! Registrations open on 1 June and there are multiple discounts available for teams and families. We will have a Heart Kids Cycle Team marquee in the Event Village with food and beverage and plenty of space to chill out after your cruise around Taupo. We’d love to see you there! Just click here to sign up Heart Kids Cycle Team or email firstname.lastname@example.org to join the team.
The day is guaranteed to be so much fun for everyone, and there’ll also be spot prizes for fundraisers! The BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is an event not to be missed. So why not take on the challenge and be a Heart Kids hero!
