Heart Kids bi-annual National Forum was held in mid-October. Heart Kids, their families and friends, health professionals and Family Support Workers from around the country got the chance to hear about the latest medical advances in the area of congenital heart disease, rheumatic fever, heart transplantation and much more. This year’s keynote speaker was Cam Calkoen. Born with Cerebal Palsy, Cam gave an inspirational talk about how he turned a "can't do" attitude into a dynamic "can do anything" personality. There were also informative addresses by New Zealand’s leading heart surgeon, Dr Kirsten Finucane and Paediatric Cardiologist Dr Tom Gentles.
