Moofushu, a gamer and streamer, held her first online streaming marathon to raise money for Heart Kids NZ.
“My friend mentioned they were doing online streaming for charity, and I really wanted to get involved too, so I did.
I watched a video about children with heart conditions in Australia and the video made me really understand the pain that these families were going through, and the struggles that they faced in a personal way that tugged at my heartstrings.
It’s already a tough time for every family out there, I can’t imagine what they’re going through. But I also wanted to support us on this side of the pond. That’s when I decided I would pick Heart Kids NZ and the whole journey started.
This was a challenge for me. I had never done streaming before, and I really wanted to go big or go home.
I wanted to do as much as I could to get the word out that ‘This is it, I’m doing it!’ and it was a real opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone. I started making artwork, I put together a strategy and I asked for support for getting the word out, I posted on social media.
The more art that I ended up doing for the stream, the more I thought ‘wow’ this is happening and it did. I went for 8 hours and before I knew it had raised $1,600.00 What an incredible week, incredible journey and incredible people.
I’m so glad I did pick Heart Kids NZ. I got to make really cute artwork and support an amazing cause that I wasn’t even initially aware of, it blew me away how many babies are born with heart conditions in New Zealand alone.”
